Cheesy twists

This is a very quick recipe that’s child’s play to make!

These are a tasty treat for lunch boxes and great for grownups too.

 Equipment Ingredients

Work mat

125g puff pastry (at room temperature)

Flour dredger

1 dsp tomato puree

Rolling pin

25g grated mature cheddar cheese

tablespoon

1 dessert spoon seeds (pumpkin or sesame or poppy)

Dessert spoon

Table knife

Baking tray with paper

Wash your hands and put on an apron. Preheat the oven to 200°C Fan, 220°c (gas mark 7). Line the baking tray with baking parchment.

Sprinkle some flour onto the mat.  Roll out the pastry to a rectangle – a bit smaller than this sheet of paper.

Have the pastry with the short sides to each side and mark a line down the middle – so it looks a bit like an open book. Spread one side of the line – you might find it easier to dot - with the tomato puree, be careful not to spread too thick, and sprinkle over the grated cheese and the seeds.

Fold the other half of the pastry over the top to hide all the tasty ingredients and gently roll them together.

Cut the pastry into strips, about 1.5cm thick, then twist them and place in rows on the baking tray. Bake for 12 – 15 mins until golden. Makes about 8 twists.
